Volunteer

Walter Reed offers several different types and levels of volunteer opportunities to parents.  Whether you want to volunteer from home, for a one-time event, on a regular basis on-campus, or for an overnight event-- it is important that all volunteers meet the requirements for their tier and a processed through the District and approved.  We look forward to having you join our volunteer team!

Please note there will be NO TIER I volunteers starting with the 2023-2024 school year.
 
 

DISTRICT APPROVAL PROCESS:

All volunteers must complete these steps EVERY YEAR:
(Events/field trips will not happen unless we have enough chaperones.)
 
1. COMPLETE all the required forms below, print, and sign. (YES, you must do this EACH and EVERY YEAR that you volunteer). 
  • Online Application at https://volunteerapp.lausd.net 
    • ​​​​​​​ Select whether you would like to serve as a Virtual or On-Campus volunteer and select a location where you would like to serve.
  • Volunteer Commitment Form (English or Spanish)
  • COVID waiver (English or Spanish)
 
2. If you are volunteering with students, GATHER any other required documents:
  • Proof of Negative TB Test (For Volunteering with Students): You will need to provide your negative TB test within 60 days or LESS of being tested! TB tests are valid for 4 years.   If you are unable to provide, you will be welcome to volunteer from home only.
  • Fingerprinting (For Tier III Volunteers only): To be eligible for Overnight Field Trips Volunteering you will need to get fingerprinted by LAUSD. You may set up your fingerprinting appointment here
 
3. WITHIN 30 DAYS OF YOUR ONLINE APPLICATION, TURN IN ALL your signed forms & any required documents to the Parent Center or to Principal Friedman's mailbox which is located in the main office of the school. 
 
4. Your application will be REVIEWED for accuracy and completion, and approved based on need.
 
5. Once your application is reviewed, the Office of Parent and Community Services (PCS) will conduct a FINAL REVIEW and confirm approval.
 
 
6. Once your have received final approval, our school will reach out with volunteer opportunities and any school-specific guidelines.
 
IMPORTANT!! If all required documents are not received within 30 days, your application will be denied. You are invited to re-apply when your completed application documents are ready to be processed.
