A Message from The Principal
To the Reed Middle School Community,
It is with great pride that I introduce myself as the principal of Walter Reed Middle School, a California Distinguished School. Reed has a long history of serving the students of North Hollywood and beyond, providing engaging and challenging classes in an environment that fosters a strong sense of belonging for students, parents, teachers, and staff alike. Through our five academies, we offer the benefits of a personalized, small-school experience while maintaining the advantages of a comprehensive middle school, including a wide range of electives. Each academy provides honors-level courses for students ready to take on an accelerated pace. When students culminate from Reed, they do so with the skills and confidence to succeed at any high school of their choice.
Our elective offerings include computer graphics, video production, animation, fine art, robotics, JROTC, Spanish, Korean (Coming Fall of 2025), and three specialized areas of music, all taught by our award-winning music instructors. If you haven’t yet attended a performance in our auditorium, I encourage you to do so—you’ll be amazed at what our students can achieve.
Beyond the classroom, our dedicated staff provides a full range of services to support students and enhance their middle school experience. These include three assistant principals, each with a specialized focus, as well as a full-time nurse, psychiatric social worker, school psychologist, school climate advocate, two intervention coordinators, a dean of students, four academic counselors, a college and career coach, a Title I coordinator, and an A-G counselor. We are also fortunate to have an active PTSA and dedicated parent groups who contribute their time and talents to our school. Our Parent Liaison serves as a vital connection between the school and community, organizing events and parent workshops to empower families.
Walter Reed is a special place, and I consider myself fortunate to serve this incredible community. As a parent of Walter Reed alumni, I understand the challenges of the middle school years, a period of immense change and growth. I encourage you to reach out to me and my staff as we work together toward a shared vision of success and happiness for all our students.
Please stop by anytime—my door is always open.
