Chromebook Collection
Reed MS Chromebook Distribution
Students at Reed Middle School have received Chromebooks and chargers to help them with schoolwork. These devices may have come from:
- Reed Middle School – mostly used at school
- LAUSD (ECF Program) – used at home and school
Your child may have received one, the other, or both, depending on what they need and qualify for.
New Students & ECF Devices
If a new student gets an ECF Chromebook, they will not get a school-use Chromebook.
They must bring their ECF device to school every day to use in class.
Reed MS Chromebook Policy
Chromebooks from Reed Middle School stay with the student as long as they go to Reed MS.
- If the student is in 6th or 7th grade and will return next year, they can keep the Chromebook over the summer.
- If the student graduates or transfers to another school, they must return the Chromebook and charger to Reed MS to avoid a fine.
Repair & Replacement Costs
If a Chromebook is damaged or lost, there may be a cost to fix or replace it.
The cost depends on the damage, but it won’t be more than the price of the device.
- Replacement Chromebook (Wi-Fi only): $304
- Replacement Chromebook (with LTE): $376
(Restitution Policy BUL-5509.5 /Pg. 6) - Replacement Charger: $25
District-Issued Chromebooks (LAUSD ECF Devices)
Chromebooks from LAUSD’s Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF) were given for home and school use.
The ECF program ended in June 2024.
Students can keep their ECF device as long as they are in an LAUSD school.
If a student leaves Reed MS but goes to another LAUSD school, they do not need to return the device.
